She was an essential asset in the field of education because she spent her life after her freedom from slavery in the advancement of the kingdom of God through her determination and advancement of education. Furthermore, Rebecca was determined to plunge off the feeling of inferiority (Smith, 2020). She was committed to the education of African slaves with special interest in the education of children. Her contribution influenced the social environment of education and religion. In addition, she advanced literacy as an asset to slaves, while becoming the first minority woman of African American race to become ordained as a minister of the Christian religion (Smith, 2020). Rebecca relationship with slaves was such that she wanted slaves to know God and the mercy and grace that God has given to humans. I believe that Rebecca Protten’s life was a model of the importance of social responsibility, which is essential for educators to emulate because of her commitment, dedication, and passion in the lives of those that she had a relationship. Rebecca was focused on spreading God’s love and mercy to humanity, which led to her journey to three different continents. The details of how Rebecca lived her last days is not specifically know; however, her story is that of a self-less and committed individual that contributed to evangelism and education (Smith, 2020). From Rebecca Protten legacy in the area of education it is essential that as an educator that I must ensure that my students learn something of significance from me. Therefore, it is my prayer and hope that my students are able to see God in me as I model God’s words, while I am delivering the standards and skills that are established by to school system to my students. As Rebecca Protten was known as the “Mother of modern missions”, I as an educator must ensure that I am the advocate of modern education by ensuring that my students needs are met while I still maintain the Christian foundation. In other words, as an educator, it is my responsibility to ensure that all students have the opportunity of education without any regards to their race, creed, ethnicity, or origin. Therefore, it is our responsibility as educators to ensure that our students are educated for the good of the society, their families, and communities.ReferencesSmith, S. J. (2020).
