I am currently trying to write a research paper where I run a statistical analysis on some data. The data that I have is 1,414 responses to a survey where participants listed their rating of life overall (from 1-10), and their highest degree (Less than high school, high school, junior college, bachelors, or graduate). The independent variable is going to be education (which I assume is categorical and ordinal). The dependent variable is going to be life satisfaction (I’m calling it a quantitative interval variable). My dillema is:What statistical test should I use to figure out the significance between education and life satisfaction?I don’t know if the data is normal, and how that factors in (in terms of using a parametric or nonparametric test.)Thank you so much!
