in this discussion, we’ll talk about the nurse-client relationship and the use of therapeutic communication as an important part of that relationship.Respond to at least two other student’s posts with substantial details that demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and critical thinking. In nursing, you must use therapeutic communication, especially in Mental Health. Sometimes I fear I may say the wrong thing and upset the patient. Being able to stop and think about what should be said is something I will have to work on to help myself better understand not only the patient but also myself. Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social well-being that you, as the nurse, must monitor closely to help treat the patient. That Is also something I am a little nervous about is making sure to cover all aspects of what is going on so that I do not miss anything for my patents. This is something that I hope to learn and gain experience from while being in this class. An essential part of having a good nurse-to-client relationship is empathy, respect, caring, trust, understanding, and so much more. Having empathy for a patient is showing them you are there for them and to be a listening ear. Nurses need to show understanding towards a patient for them to feel they can trust the nurse with what is going on with them. Lastly, respect is towards the client and the nurse for the visit to run smoothly.Communication is a key aspect of nursing in general, but also in mental health nursing. Being able to see the nonverbal communication is key in trying to figure out what is going on with the patient. A lot of the time, a patient shows more nonverbal than verbal communication. Being able to actively listen to the patient will help in this aspect in getting to the bottom of what is happening. 2.My concerns are working with the patient. I don’t deal with a lot of crazy people in my life and I’m afraid to start dealing with different types of crazy people. For myself, I don’t get anxious often and I can usually calm myself down. However, when I am mad I can’t stop my mouth from talking.  “The therapeutic relationship/partnership (patient-centered partnership) between nurse and patient differs from both a social and an intimate relationship in that the nurse maximizes his or her communication skills, understanding of human behavior, and personal strengths to enhance the patient’s growth” (Fosbre, 2021). As nurses, we have to understand to listen to our patients instead of focusing on the next task.  I use to work as a transporter and I remember talking to the patient about where he/she was going next. That person was going for CT scan and was nervous about what they were going to do. Therefore, I had to talk to the patient about the importance of going to get the ct scan done. I didn’t really have a good understanding of how the ct scan worked and I didn’t want to give them the wrong information. That’s why I talked about the importance of getting it done. I then talked about how life has many obstacles and that didn’t stop the individual from overcoming them. That person eventually agreed on going and I took the patient back to their room. The individual said that he/she was glad they went because it wasn’t that bad.  3.I believe that mental health nursing requires knowledge and skills such as careful observation of verbal and non-verbal behavior, extraordinary empathy, openness, the ability to set limits, and the seventh sense, which is used to stay one step ahead of the patient’s thoughts. Mental health nursing is exciting but challenging, and I look forward to seeing how mental health nursing is. My fear is not having enough mental health experience, but you have to start somewhere to get it. Contact with the patient, regardless of the nurse’s specialty and the patient’s condition, is the basis of every therapeutic process. It would be challenging to help most of our patients without good contact, without building a proper relationship and strengthening the mutual bond. The trust the patient has in the staff depends mainly on us. It depends on how we treat the patient, how we approach him, how we communicate with him, what kind of information, and how we convey to him. Our contact with the patient is based on those pillars on which proper communication is built.I think “Patient-centered care” – focused on the patient’s needs – should be one of the elements of the mission of each treatment facility and its staff. Its implementation should be based on three foundations, such as learning about the patient’s needs, expectations, and capabilities. Simple and understandable provision of the necessary information to the patient is the basis for achieving an excellent therapeutic effect and good professional relationship. Also, a gentle touch and smile can strengthen patient and nurse relationships.
